I do not think that if the Islamic Republic of Iran dubs the President of the United States “the Madhi” that we should all immediately agree, though it would certainly be a data point of interest.
Obama, firmly convinced that chit-chat will save us all, has promised to seek the Oprah award for niceness in the Islamic Republic, but he does so at a time of peak existential risk for Israel. If Obama now acts to snub the Jewish state, while enabling the nuclear megalomaniacs in Tehran, we could well be watching jewel encrusted images of Obama, with Farsi audio attached, proclaiming him to be The One, like déjà vu all over again.
Israel, looking with wizened skepticism at both its own liberals and American ones, has elected a collection of Ariel Sharon’s leftovers and right-wingers. Interesting comment on Israel’s mood: Sharon’s disciples are now considered left leaning; Tzipi!
But with Binyamin Netanyahu forming a hard-right government within days, and Iran’s nuclear program having reached critical mass either a few days ago or a few days from now, the moment of pregnant immediacy has arrived. Discontent to have only the right core, when Israel is facing such imminent Iranian threat, Netanyahu is making one more push to bring in Ehud Barak.
Israel, unlike the USA, is not going to passively sit through Holocaust II The Wrath of Mahmoud while deficit spending on midnight basketball. For years the world has suffered through endless jawboning, while Bush and other named storms tried to bluster Iran’s bomb into non-existence. But the time for the Hans Blix windbag blitz is over because the neutron flux at Bushehr is now.
Israel must act.
But how? Iran is 700 miles to the east, spread out, fortified with bunkers, and requires crossing American airspace – Iraq. Aircraft carriers or in flight refueling are other options, but these two present the need to radio the Americans. But Houston? We have a problem.
Blessed Hussein, with his Iranian adviser Jarrett, occupy the ovular office-dais these days. Obama’s convinced he’s the Mahdi. Iran is so unstable and foaming at the mouth, that they’d probably designate anyone a Mahdi if only that person could produce a finished nuclear weapon. Barack has them! Maybe he is The One!?
And the likelihood that The One will approve tangential or direct air support, in order to attack the Misunderstood Republic of Not Necessarily Jihadists is…near zero. The probability of successfully waxing Iran’s nuclear program with the Israeli air force only, even under the best of circumstances, was never good. But with the Americans against them? Can this be happening?
Let’s be clear – Obama’s refusal to allow Iraqi air space, in flight refuel, or carrier launch would be his very best offer to destroy Israel. It would also be his first major decision with respect to helping or hurting the international Islamist terrorist complex. What he does here sets the course of the next world war.
But once Barack Hussein has told the Daughter of Zion “No”, the guts that is Netanyahu will certainly go ahead anyway, because there is no way that Bibi is going to allow the children of the Holocaust to go down without a fight. “Never again” means that the Warsaw ghetto will always be well armed from now until Messiah comes.
And so?
Missiles. And probably nuclear ones. They’ll have no other choice.
