“She’s just like most of us,” explained Brenda Davis, a Palin fan from Wasilla wearing a “Go Sarah!” shirt. “Mom, Christian, conservative, Republican, family lady.”

When Maureen Dowd and Froma Harrop turn inside out with poseur rage over the very…existence…of Sarah Palin, the vast right wing conspiracy, otherwise known as Kansas and Alaska, see a simple sneer.

See, if you are Mowd or Frop, you think that you are it and that the rest of the world thinks exactly as you do.   You think the sun rises and sets on liberal newspapers. You think that everything you think is gauche is actually gauche, because you think it in New York or its surrogates.  You think that if you hate it, then everyone else will too, or should too, or soon will, since coven told you so.

But what Mowd and Frop fail to grasp is that all the following things have infinitely more grasp on the psyche of all us out here in fly-over-country than they do:

“Mom, Christian, conservative, Republican, family lady.”

Mowd and Frop essentially hate place those concepts as high, first-principle, duty, self-sacrifice-worthy concepts.  They especially hate placing those first-principles in the lofty human category of “normal”.  They regard those principles as quaint, throw-back, anachronistic, neanderthal, unenlightened, and doomed to fade away with time.  They are so convinced of those positions, they don’t even think about them.  They just take them for granted.

But like Brenda Davis explains, family-values is who Sarah Palin is.   And the word for Mowd and Frop that I have is: that is who America is.  That is who we, the grand, huge, sweeping, We, are.  Hundreds of millions of us.

Now of course, there are some who wouldn’t include the word Republican.  I would simply observe that “Mom, Christian, conservative, family lady” people don’t worry too much if you accidentally call them a Republican when they aren’t.  But again, Mowd-Frop thinks that if you include “Republican” in the list, you suddenly pare that group down to fourteen people, because that is the entire Republican population of New York City. They also think that the group defined by “Mom, Christian, conservative, family lady” is connected to fully 8% of the population, and all those are Hispanic.  That is how you think when you think that New York City is the only real and active portion of America.

But what I want to request of Dowd and Harrop is that they continue their frantic, desperate, all-out assault on Sarah Palin.  Because, when they do this, Brenda Davis, and an entire country full of “Mom, Christian, conservative, family ladies”, out there see more and more clearly how anti-Mom, anti-Christian, anti-conservative, anti-family, the superior sneering set from New York really are.  Whenever the NYT people attack Sarah Palin, they open another one thousand Mom-Christian-conservative-family-ladies eyes to how evil the evangelical-secularists are.  See, Mom-Christian-conservative-family-ladies are nice people.  They have a very hard time believing that people who run the major newspapers in our country hate them.  They have to be convinced.  So, you know, rock on, Maureen.

So, with every reinforcing attack, the legions of Brenda Davis (go Brenda) do see more and more obviously that Mowdfrop not only intends evil, but is so possessed of ad hominem attack, so driven by personal animus, that all veneer of even ideological discussion falls away.  When you assault a mother for bearing a Downs baby, that is way beyond just the definition of personal.

When you say your pregnant teen daughter is “looking stupid” when she had to make a TV appearance because Mom got nominated, that’s evil.  You don’t attack Mom’s babies just because you don’t like Mom’s politics.

When Maureen accuses Palin of country music queen meltdown, and Harrop openly calls Bristol’s looks “stupid”,  you know they aren’t trying to defend liberalism with logic.  They just hate the Brenda Davis creed and everything she stands for.  You can feel it.  It doesn’t matter if Sarah sometimes has a bad hair day and says something garbled.  Brenda Davis does that sometimes too, and Brenda Davis expects some reasonable treatment.  When the wolves bark and pounce on Sarah, Brenda just feels the love.

So hate on Dowd, hate on Harrop. The more you expose your utter sneering contempt for the people of this country who catch the fish, fight the wars, and grow the cotton, the more we know who you are, and the more votes you lose.  Whenever you have a pang of Palin hatred, don’t wait to control your tongue.  Run to the keyboard so that the whole world can hear, so that me and Brenda Davis can behold the bubbling cauldron.  And if steam shoots out your ears, get a video camera and put it on youtube.

And Sarah?  You perform a great national service when you give staff members of the New York times vapor lock.   Keep on truckin’ for Jesus. My advice is to hit the Pro-Life speaking circuit, and do your best to support the Personhood movement.  Maureen Dowd will have seizures in the street if you do that.
